ENVIRONMENT DESCRIPTION

The structure was entirely covered with the use of insulated sandwich panels with pre-painted slatted sheet metal which have polyurethane foam as insulation. The premises are divided as follows: office, isolation room for new animals, corridor, changing room, bathrooms, infectious shelter, service room, food storage / warehouse, external legs with anti-escape net.

PERFORMED ACTIVITIES

The care of our guests includes the cleaning of the shelters, the feeding and care of the animals, the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the structure and the adjacent green areas, an area in which disadvantaged people are employed for the social purpose of the Eureka cooperative society. , with social hardships or mental disorders supported by the managers of the service.

With passion, the operators also guarantee our guests "HUMAN RELATIONS", which they need so much, managing to interact with experience and dedication.

WHAT IT MEANS TO ADOPT AN ANIMAL COMPANION

Big or small, young or old, calm or agitated, our guests in an adoption could undergo a first destabilization to which they will have to react by finding a state of well-being and a better quality of life in their new "FAMILY NUCLEUS". They enter into our family dynamics and have to get used to us, we consciously insert them into our core and we want to get used to them.

WHAT TO DO TO MAKE THE ADOPTION MORE SERENE

The search for a new psycho-physical balance must be imagined as a passage to habits different from those known in the shelter, to which the animal must readjust with the correct behavioral adjustments. This change can be more or less traumatic and stressful depending on the character strength of the animal, the adequacy of the environments and the family unit and, to a preponderant extent, on the interactive relationship between these variables, which begins to be created on the day of arrival. in the new house.

HOW THE CAT IS ASSESSED AND MANAGED INSIDE THE CATTLE REFUGE

During the stay in the shelter, the cat is evaluated in its various behavioral aspects by the veterinarian responsible for the health of the structure and by the operators who deal with our guests on a daily basis, to outline the most reliable indices of adoptability and reliability. These evaluations are indicative and not exhaustive in predicting what will happen within family dynamics that cannot be reproduced in the structure, and allow us to presume, for example, whether the person evaluated will be more inclined to live with numerous families, with a couple, with a single person. and / or with other animals, if it can be reliable in living with small children ...

HOW THE ADOPTANT IS ASSESSED

Citizens who express the desire to adopt a cat are asked what is necessary to understand which guests of our structure are most suitable to integrate into the specific family unit. Asking and asking specific questions, with the serenity of being able to deal with people who have been dedicating themselves for several years to the social and adoption procedures, can only increase the awareness and completeness of the choice you are going to make.

REQUESTS

Do we know why we are about to make an adoption?

Are we aware that the cat is neither a child nor a human?

Do we know what we want and what we can get from our new friend?

KEYWORDS for a good coexistence: COHERENCE and COMPLICITY

SMALL STEPS

The new human family is instinctively led immediately to sympathize with them, give them a lot of attention and as many concessions (vices) because they are likely to have come out of a difficult situation. The animal can perceive some of these human behaviors as signals of submission and start trying to get more and more attention / concessions, up to sometimes demanding them. By granting everything, the newcomer is denied the fundamental points of reference to recreate a correct hierarchical stability and find his own space in society. Each new concession must be managed with GRADUALITY, until it becomes a new pleasant habit. An animal that was initially granted everything will find it very difficult to understand why all of a sudden he is denied something or is no longer at the center of all attention; he will thus risk losing confidence due to inconsistent behavior.

ATTENTION, the whole family must undertake to ensure consistency, it is therefore essential that there is perfect agreement within the nucleus on the behavior to be adopted in equal measure. Only by respecting the animal, dedicating space and affection to it, will it be possible to keep its balance healthy and therefore fully enjoy its company.
